| Information and Referral Services - This program ensures that families have access to services provided by the ArcGL as well as other health and social services in the community. This program operates in collaboration with a number of Greater Lawrence organizations such as the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, the Department of Mental Retardation, the Autism Support Center, Health and Education Services and area school districts. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Social/Recreational Activities - This program creates important opportunities for family interaction, among families who often experience isolation due to the challenges of caring for a family member with a developmental disability. Recent events have included a community dance attended by 125 individuals and a Day in the Park where 70 individuals and families enjoyed a picnic and recreational activities. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

To date, trainings have been offered in collaboration with the Federation for Children with Special Needs, the Developmental Disabilities Law Center and the Autism Support Center. The ArcGL plans to develop additional trainings to address the needs and concerns of its families. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Family Forums- ArcGL offers a number of opportunities for families to connect through discussions, seminars and workshops. CLASS, Inc. and ArcGL hold quarterly evening forums for families that provide for two way communication, agency updates and educational presentations on subjects requested by families. | Lowell Family to Family Support Center: Family to Family is a collaboration of three related family groups: Arc Massachusetts, Advisory Boards of the Department of Mental Retardation and the Massachusetts Families Organizing for Change. This grassroots collaboration works together to address the Waiting List for services at the Department of Mental Retardation by helping to identify families needs and work directly with them to develop public-private partnerships as we strengthen the capacity of parent groups to work with state agencies and state legislature. Services provided by the center are: bi-monthly meetings, individual case-management, clinical supports. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
