What is Assistive Technology?

Assistive Technology is the use of devices and/or methods to compensate for functional limitations of individuals and to increase their mobility, communication and overall independence.  Assistive Technology can be as simple as a walking cane or a remote controller for your T.V. yet as sophisticated as voice activated devices and customized workstations.

CLASS Inc. puts on the Northeast Assistive Technology (NEAT) Conference and Expo every May. Stay tuned for more details.

Meet The Assistive Technology Solutions Team

  • Julie Herget, Director of Clinical Services, has more than 25 years of experience working with people with disabilities, primarily adults. She oversees the Assistive Technology Solutions Program and is responsible for outreach and promoting the program.

  • Stacie Selfridge, Assistive Technology Manager, has more than six years experience in the field of Occupational Therapy and eleven years working in the disability field. . Stacie is responsible for coordinating the use of assistive technology throughout program services as well as support the Director in managing the community-based work provided through the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Contract.

  • Jim Francis, M.S., Assistive Technology Specialist, has an educational foundation in engineering, and progressive experience in assistive technology. Jim is responsible for providing the spectrum of program services to the disabled community through the selection, acquisition and use of assistive technology devices.
