History...
In
1976, members of the Greater Lawrence Community and the parents
of adults with developmental disabilities established the Citizens
League for Adult Special Services (CLASS, Inc.).
CLASS,
Inc. was founded , through the efforts of parents, as a day activity
and training center for their adult children with mental retardation.
As the agency grew, it diversified to include training and support
for individuals with more severe physical and behavioral challenges.
CLASS has become a leader in providing quality, individualized
support and services with emphasis on promoting an individual's
self-growth, independence and involvement in community.
In an effort to expand services to families, CLASS, Inc. opened
a new chapter of the Arc (Association for Retarded Citizens) in
2001: The Arc of Greater Lawrence to develop and offer services
and support to individuals with disabilities and their families
from the towns of Lawrence, Andover, North Andover and Methuen,
Massachusetts.
Our
Mission...

collaboration with individuals, families and the community, CLASS
