At CLASS, volunteers are considered an extension of our staff.
Our volunteers are critical to ensuring our individuals receive quality support. Our agency excels in championing disability causes and we invite you to join us. We rely on you to help us meet a variety of needs!
1. Assisting with specific skill building tasks
Work in our Day Services setting to provide experiences that build social and physical abilities. In this area, you could assist with group activities such as art, music, reading, computer skills or food preparation. These volunteer roles are limited to adults over age 21 with experience with disabilities.
2. Assisting with marketing and fundraising efforts
Are you an outgoing person looking to help put plans into action? Increasing community awareness of our mission and needs requires many skill sets in ensuring positive promotion. Volunteer opportunities include helping us with events, social media, mailings, community outreach, and data prep in our office.
3. Administrative duties
Do you have computer or office skills and want to put them to good use? Help with phone calls, spreadsheets, photocopying, filing and other projects.
4. Technology support
If you are skilled at computer software training for individuals on-site, developing technology support for people with disabilities, or providing occasional IT support to our agency, then your expertise is welcome.
5. Translation services
If you are able to translate documents for us from English into Spanish, then you can help us reach our Spanish-speaking families to provide the information they need.
6. Disabilities education
Are you enthusiastic about spreading the word about people with disabilities and their capabilities? Are you eager to teach people about the challenges and reward of working with people with disabilities? Help CLASS with our advocacy efforts with government officials. Share these special skills with individuals at CLASS to help them develop their advocacy skills.
7. Is there a crafter out there?
Help prepare for our Cultural Day in May, a Christmas fair or art show! Work with adults so they can create works of art for others to enjoy. We need the special talents of someone who can put together gift baskets for our special event raffles and your donations support our fundraising events.
8. Like to pitch in?
Recreation is a key component of services through the Arc of Greater Lawrence. Help out at one of our youth activities, such as Healthy Balance, or help us coordinate activities such as community and sport outings .
9. Maintenance and Repairs
Are you handy with a hammer or paint brush? Apply your skills to help with various projects throughout our buildings under the guidance of our facilities manager. We'll make room for your improvements.
